Effective date and last updated: October 26, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Android app Speaker Cleaner: Water Eject (shown as Speaker Cleaner on your home screen; package name com.umbrabyte.speakercleaner.water.eject), developed and published by Umbrabyte Apps. It applies to all versions of the app distributed through Google Play from the effective date above and complements the general Umbrabyte Privacy Policy.
Plain language summary: Speaker Cleaner plays tones generated on your phone to help push water and dust out of the speaker and connected headphones. Your cleaning records, speaker test results and settings stay on your device. If you allow the optional microphone, the sound it picks up is analysed in memory and is never saved or sent; only the resulting measurements are kept on the device. The app’s own code makes no network requests and Umbrabyte runs no server for it, but the Google Play libraries inside the app contact Google Play to check your purchases and the price, offer updates and show the rating dialog. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no sale of data.
This summary does not replace the detailed terms below.
1. Scope and key facts
- Stored on your device: cleaning records, speaker test and calibration results, settings and free-plan counters stay in the app’s private storage (section 3.1).
- Network: the app’s own code makes no network requests and Umbrabyte runs no server for it. The installed app does include the
INTERNETandACCESS_NETWORK_STATEpermissions, which the Google Play libraries add to reach Google Play (section 4). - Works offline: cleaning, the speaker test and calibration work without a connection; buying or restoring PRO needs one.
- No account: no sign-in, and the app never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- No ads, no trackers: no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or attribution SDK, and no use of the Google Advertising ID (
AD_ID). - No sale of data: Umbrabyte does not sell, rent or share personal data.
- How the app is paid for: the free plan has daily limits shown in the app. PRO is an optional one-time lifetime purchase through Google Play, with no subscription and no recurring charges.
- Volume and screen: during a cleaning the app keeps the screen on and may raise the media volume to the maximum (section 3.3). Keep the phone away from your ear.
2. Controller
The developer and data controller for any personal data Umbrabyte receives directly (for example, support emails) is:

Speaker Cleaner has no fields for entering information about yourself or other people; it only records technical data about your device’s speaker and your use of the app.
3. Data and permissions
3.1 Information stored on your device
| Data category | Contents | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning records | One entry per completed cleaning: mode, tone frequency, duration and time it finished | App database (Room / SQLite), not encrypted |
| Speaker test results | One entry per completed microphone test: health score, level per frequency band, left/right balance, distortion flag, level drop compared with your best measurement, and time | App database (Room / SQLite), not encrypted |
| Calibration and level reference | Resonance frequency found by the calibration and when it was measured; reference speaker level and the volume step used to measure it | App preferences (DataStore), not encrypted |
| Settings | Theme, language, haptic feedback, max-volume option, favourite manual frequency and waveform, last cleaning mode | App preferences (DataStore), not encrypted |
| Usage markers | Your answer in the welcome screens about the speaker problem (water, dust or a check-up), first-run status, total cleanings, last cleaning date, the app version that last showed the rating dialog, and the last update offered and when | App preferences (DataStore), not encrypted |
| Free-plan counters | Uses of each limited feature today and the date of the last daily reset | App preferences (DataStore), not encrypted |
| PRO purchase cache | Whether PRO is active, the product purchased, the Google Play order number and the purchase token | Encrypted app storage (EncryptedSharedPreferences, AES-256 with a key in the Android Keystore) |
The diagnostic screen shows your latest test result; earlier results and the cleaning records stay on the device even though the app has no screen to browse them. The app records no audio files, creates no other files and does not use shared storage.
3.2 Android permissions
| Permission | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO), optional, asked at runtime |
Used only when you start a speaker test or the resonance calibration in Settings, after an in-app explanation. While short test tones play, the microphone listens to the phone’s own speaker; the sound is analysed in memory and never saved or sent. Only the measurements in 3.1 are kept. If you refuse, cleaning still works but the test and calibration cannot run. |
Vibration (VIBRATE) |
Haptic feedback and vibration pulses during cleaning. You can turn it off in the app’s Settings. |
Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) |
Lets Google Play process and restore the optional PRO purchase. |
Internet (INTERNET) and network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) |
Added automatically by the Google Play libraries in the app so they can communicate with Google Play (section 4). The app’s own code does not connect to any server; it only opens a connection to the device itself for the local integrity check in section 7. |
DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION |
Internal permission added by the Android support libraries so that only the app itself can deliver certain internal messages to it. It gives no access to your data. |
Speaker Cleaner does not request location, contacts, camera, photos or files, phone, SMS, Bluetooth, notification, background service or wake-lock permissions, or the Advertising ID. You can revoke the microphone permission at any time in Android Settings.
3.3 Device settings the app reads or changes
- Media volume: with Max volume while cleaning on (the default), the app raises the media volume to 100% during a cleaning and then restores your previous level. When sound goes to headphones, it lowers the volume if it is above a safe limit. It watches for volume changes so the level on screen stays correct.
- Headphones: the app checks which type of audio output is connected (wired or Bluetooth headphones, or the phone speaker) to choose the right mode, without any Bluetooth permission.
- Screen: kept on only while a cleaning runs. Cleaning stops when you leave the app; there is no background service and no notifications.
3.4 Support email with pre-filled details
PRO users can contact support from Settings. The app opens your email app with a message to support@umbrabyte.app that already contains your Google Play order number (if known), the app version, your device manufacturer and model, the Android version and the app language. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or delete these details first. Umbrabyte then receives your email address, your message and those details.
3.5 Backups and moving to a new phone
Automatic cloud backup is turned off for this app. On Android 12 and later, if you use Android’s device-to-device transfer when setting up a new phone, the app’s database and preferences (everything in 3.1 except the encrypted PRO purchase cache) may be copied to the new phone, where PRO is restored from Google Play. This copy goes directly between your devices under Android’s control; Umbrabyte does not receive it.
3.6 Data Umbrabyte does not receive
Umbrabyte never receives microphone audio, your cleaning records, test or calibration results, settings, device identifiers, IP address or payment details. It only receives what you choose to send by email and the order information Google Play makes available to developers when you buy PRO (section 4.1).
4. External services
4.1 Google Play Billing
Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited) through the Google Play Store app. To show the price and keep your plan active, the app asks Google Play for your purchases when it starts or returns to the foreground, whether or not you have bought anything, and asks Google Play for the current price of PRO. Google handles your payment method, billing address and taxes. Umbrabyte only receives the order information Google Play makes available to developers (for example order number, product, date, price and country) and never sees your card details. The Google Play Billing Library may also send technical diagnostics about the billing connection to Google under Google’s privacy policy; Umbrabyte does not receive them. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Purchases are checked on your device with Google Play, not on an Umbrabyte server; an encrypted copy of the result (section 3.1) keeps PRO working offline.
4.2 Google Play In-App Updates
The app uses the Google Play In-App Updates library to check whether a newer version is available and to offer (or, for important fixes, require) the update. The check is carried out by the Google Play Store app under Google’s terms.
4.3 Google Play In-App Review
After you have used the app for a while, it may ask Google Play to show the rating dialog. Google decides whether it appears; your rating goes directly to Google Play and the app does not receive it.
4.4 No Umbrabyte servers
Umbrabyte operates no server, cloud database, analytics service or API for Speaker Cleaner. Tone generation, sound analysis and storage all happen on your device. Links in the app to the Umbrabyte website (umbrabyte.app) open in your browser, where the general Umbrabyte Privacy Policy applies.
5. Purposes and legal bases
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD):
| Activity | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning, listening tests and storing records and settings on the device | Provide the features you use | Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b) |
| Microphone speaker test and calibration, and keeping their results on the device | Measure your speaker and tune the cleaning frequency | Your consent when you grant the microphone permission (Art. 6.1.a), which you can withdraw in Android Settings |
| PRO purchase, purchase checks and restore | Deliver and maintain the lifetime licence | Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b) |
| Purchase records | Keep accounting and tax records | Legal obligation (Art. 6.1.c) |
| Update checks, rating prompt and local integrity checks | Keep the app secure and up to date, let you rate it and prevent misuse of PRO | Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) |
| Support emails, including the pre-filled details | Answer your request | Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b) and legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) |
6. Retention and deletion
| Data | Retention | How to delete |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning records and speaker test results | Until you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app | Clear app data or uninstall. Reset stats in Settings does not delete these entries. |
| Total cleanings and last cleaning date | Until you reset them | Reset stats in Settings, clear app data or uninstall |
| Calibration result | Until you reset it or run a new calibration | Reset to Default in Settings, clear app data or uninstall |
| Level reference, settings, usage markers and free-plan counters | While the app is installed (free-plan counters restart every day) | Clear app data or uninstall |
| PRO purchase cache | While the app is installed; PRO can be restored from Google Play | Clear app data or uninstall; the purchase stays in your Google account |
| Google Play order records | Statutory tax and accounting periods | Managed by Google |
| Support emails | Up to 3 years after the last message | Deleted in routine inbox clean-ups, or earlier on request |
To clear the app’s data, open Android Settings, then Apps, Speaker Cleaner, Storage, and choose Clear storage (names vary by device). Copies made on a new phone by a device transfer follow the same rules there. The app writes no files outside its private storage, so nothing remains after uninstalling.
7. Security
- Sandbox: all data lives in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read.
- Encryption: the PRO purchase cache (status, order number and purchase token) is encrypted with AES-256 using a key kept in the Android Keystore. The database and preferences are not encrypted; they hold no account, contact or payment details.
- No cloud backup: automatic backup is disabled, and the encrypted purchase cache is excluded from device-to-device transfers.
- No unencrypted connections: the app’s network configuration blocks plain HTTP traffic.
- Purchase screen: screenshots and screen recording are blocked on the PRO purchase screen, and taps are ignored while another app draws over it.
- Local integrity check: before checking or making a purchase, the app looks for code-hooking tools by reading its own memory map and testing a port on the device itself. The result never leaves the device; if such a tool is found, the purchase check or the purchase is stopped.
- Hardened builds: release builds are optimised and obfuscated with R8.
8. Rights worldwide
8.1 European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) at https://www.aepd.es or with your national supervisory authority.
8.2 United States (CCPA / CPRA and state laws)
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Exercising your rights never affects the service you receive.
8.3 Brazil (LGPD)
You may exercise the rights in Article 18 of the LGPD, including confirmation, access, correction, deletion and revocation of consent.
8.4 Other countries
We apply the principles of PIPEDA (Canada), the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia) and equivalent laws.
Because the app’s data stays on your device, you can access or delete it directly in the app or in Android Settings; Umbrabyte cannot see or delete it remotely. For any other request, including support emails we hold, contact support@umbrabyte.app; verified requests are answered within 30 days.
9. Children
Speaker Cleaner is not directed to children. It is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in their country). If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact support@umbrabyte.app and we will delete it.
10. Changes
This policy describes the current version of Speaker Cleaner and is kept in step with every update published on Google Play.
- Before a change ships: if an update adds a permission, a third-party service, a new type of data or any transfer of data outside your device, we update this policy before releasing it and change the effective date at the top.
- No new purposes without notice: we will not use your data for a new purpose without telling you first and, where the law requires it, asking for your consent in the app.
- Permissions stay in your control: Android asks you before granting any runtime permission, and you can revoke it at any time in Android Settings.
- Consistent with Google Play: the app’s Data safety section on Google Play is updated together with this policy.
Earlier versions of this policy are available on request at support@umbrabyte.app.
